Inauguration of the Pasargad Energy Intelligent Power Plant Status Monitoring Center with the Presence of the Vice President for Science and Technology
The Intelligent Power Plant Status Monitoring Center (IPCM CENTER) was inaugurated through the efforts of the Pasargad Energy Group, attended by Dr. Afshin, the Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, Dr. Ghasemi, CEO of Pasargad Bank, Engineer Sadegh Abadi, CEO of Pasargad Energy Group, along with provincial officials and power plant managers from across the country.
This center, established in collaboration with the Pasargad Energy Expansion Company, Shams Pasargad Power Generation Company, and Sharif University of Technology, represents a significant advancement toward optimizing the performance of power plants and enhancing the efficiency of rotating equipment.
The Intelligent Power Plant Status Monitoring Center enables real-time monitoring of rotating equipment performance, reduces energy imbalance, extends equipment lifespan, lowers maintenance costs, increases predictive capabilities for failures, and optimizes power plant operations.
The center comprises three key components:
1. Online Monitoring of Turbine Performance and Vibration Data: Continuous observation of turbine performance and critical equipment, issuing proactive alerts in the event of deviations from optimal parameters.
2.Predictive Analysis and Performance Optimization: Simulating failure scenarios and forecasting maintenance needs to prevent unexpected shutdowns.
3. Rapid and Timely Decision-Making Based on Real-Time Data: Enhancing accuracy in managerial decisions and minimizing power plant downtime.
The Intelligent Power Plant Status Monitoring Center aims to leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop analytical dashboards for managers, improve cybersecurity, and conduct big data analytics, thus elevating power plant efficiency to a new level.
The establishment of this center is a crucial step toward the localization of power management technologies and enhancing the country’s technical knowledge in this domain. Through the activities of this center, more efficient operation of power plants, reduced operational costs, and greater stability of the national electrical grid are expected.
During the inauguration event, the CEO of Pasargad Energy Group stated, "When the online monitoring and management projects utilizing artificial intelligence were defined in the Pasargad Energy Group’s upstream oil, gas, and power sectors, serious discussions about these technologies were not prevalent in the country."
A Major Transformation in National Energy Management with Artificial Intelligence
Dr. Afshin, the Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, announced a significant transformation in the country's energy sector, emphasizing the role of modern technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, in enhancing productivity and reducing production costs.
He stated, "A landmark event has occurred today. Given that energy is our country’s economic advantage, we also face challenges in this area. We must convert these challenges into opportunities. We are now keeping pace with the world in various sectors, particularly in artificial intelligence. However, we must be cautious, as sometimes news in this field can be exaggerated and lead to misunderstandings."
Dr. Afshin highlighted advancements made in the country’s oil and gas industry, adding, "Under the leadership of Pasargad Energy Group, we have made a fundamental step in smartening oil and gas wells, enabling us to upgrade any well moving forward."
He also announced Khorasan Province’s leadership in this area, stating, "Khorasan Province has equipped the country’s first power plant with an intelligent status monitoring system. This initiative has the potential for implementation in all power plants across the nation. With this technology, we can achieve more efficient management of electricity production and control consumption through the dispatch system."
The Vice President underscored the importance of online monitoring in major repairs, saying, "Thanks to this intelligent monitoring system, we can now identify any errors in real-time and address them at minimal cost. This will significantly reduce expenses in production and major repairs."
He concluded by emphasizing, "The path to increased productivity lies solely through technology. In the energy sector as well, enhancing efficiency and productivity is attainable only through advanced technologies."
